Two Indian Kids Make It to Nike’ World Top 20 Future Talent List

“Indian Football still has a long way to go”. This is the perception or in fact the verity that we live with. However there are some good news that might just change our perception for a while. With no dearth of passion and talent for the game, the young Indians, with just little care are making their presence felt to the world. The first of those is the results of India U-16 team in the Coca Cola international tournament in South Africa where they reached the semi-finals, upsetting heavyweight teams.

Then there comes the two would be wonder boy of Indian Football - Daman Dutta and Avvay Gujral. “Write The Future” a campaign by Nike, where they select talented individuals between 16-18 yrs of age, has about 20 boys from India alone. After a series of selections, Daman and Avvay progressed further.

Finishing 5th worldwide, Avvya won a chance to train with the world famous Belgian club Anderlecht while Daman stood 16th and got a chance to train for 2 weeks with Liverpool FC in England. Both the boys have been closely associated with football at various levels. While the Gurgaon boy Avvay has represented India at the U-16 level, the Bengal kid Daman played his club football in Delhi for Youngmen FC in DSA (Delhi Soccer Association) apart from representing Delhi in the BC Roy U-19 National Championships in Kolkata.
