FC Barcelona and FC Inter Milan: World’s Number One Club

FC Barcelona and FC Inter Milan retained their status of being the best Football Club in the world. A statistic released by the International Federation of Football History and Statistic (IFFHS), for the period between 1st Aug. 2009 to 30th July 2010, saw the two clubs locked at 2970 points. Forty points below them are Germany’s FC Bayern Munchen, which also retains its third spot.

Next in the ranking are Germany’s SV Werder Bremen and England’s Chelsea FC, both moved up two places while Italy’s AS Roma moved up one place, as the three clubs shared the No. 4 position with 2360 points. Following them at No.7 and No.8 are Club Atlético de Madrid and Olympique Lyonnais with 2310 and 1300 points respectively.

Interestingly, Worlds most valuable sports Franchisee, Manchester United (according to Forbes) manage a two place climb to No. 10 with 2170 points but a notch below its lesser known counterpart Fulham FC placed at No. 9 with 2240 Points. Arsenal FC are placed at No. 11 with 2160 points while Liverpool FC, the club on sale, is place further down the table at 26 with 1970 points.

The first club from Asia Major in the list is C.Pohang Steelers from Korea Republic, placed down at 77 with 1295 points. Much to the dismay of Indian football, there is not a single Indian club in the list of 386 clubs released by IFFHS. What a pathetic situation we are in!!
