In the latest FIFA Ranking for the month of March 2011, Japan tops the Asian countries, firmly placed at 15, six places ahead of Australia. Asian Cup runners up Australia are 68 points behind their continental rival Japan and are ranked 21 worldwide. The Asian Champions with 938 points moved up two spots from their last month ranking while Korea Republic with 749 points moved up three spots to find their place at 29. Iran, who are fourth in Asia are ranked 43 worldwide.
Meanwhile Spain, Netherland and Germany retained their 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively while Argentina topple arch rivals Brazil for the No. 4 spot and tops the South American continent. Brazil slipping a place followed Argentina at No. 5.
From the African continent, Ghana tops the ranking at No. 16 while Cote d Ivory are placed at 25th. USA tops the list for the North America Confederation placed at 19 followed by Mexico at 27. New Zealand, the No. 1 team in the Ocenia Confederation are placed at 56, moving up eight spots from their last month ranking.
Meanwhile India ranked 24th in Asia maintained its 145th spot worldwide. India’s highest FIFA ranking so far was way back in February 1996 when they moved up 30 places at 94.
