After a tumultuous 2010, Wayne Rooney finally is seeing some light at the end of the dark tunnel which has seen him go through an unprecedented lull in form coupled with personal problems. Constantly in the news for wrong reasons, in what will probably be remembered as the craziest year of his football career, his dark phase began in March last year after his goal scoring match against Bayern Munich in a Champions League clash.
At the end of the match, Rooney found himself injured before shockingly coming back in the second leg against Bayern. Rooney’s actions sparked fears of a massive injury going into the World Cup.
Carrying expectations of a million English fans, Rooney went into the World Cup in South Africa with much fanfare. However he failed to produce any brilliance in the field and England suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat against Germany to be knocked out from the tournament. Rooney went goalless in the Rainbow Nation.
