Present Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho might have suffered very few setbacks in his illustrious coaching career. But with triumph and defeat part of the game he is in, he is bound to suffer a setback or a defeat. Real Madrid’s last night defeat at the handss of Sporting Gijon might have him lamenting silently as it not only ended the side’s 100% record at home this season but also his most unnoticed but the greatest record of “nine years unbeaten home run”.
Mid table side Gijon sprang a surprise by defeating them 1-0 at Bernabeu which gave arch rivals Barcelona a comfortable eight points cushion leaving the Real’s title hopes hanging by a thread.
