Indians Link Again to Take Over EPL Clubs

In yet another development, Indian business tycoons are linked again to take over EPL Clubs. The debt ridden American owned Liverpool FC is linked to Reliance’s Mukesh Ambani and Sahara’s Subrata Roy. Blackburn Rovers is also link to another Indian entrepreneur Ahasan Ali Syed who heads the Bahrain-Swiss based investment firm Western Gulf Advisory.

According to reports, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries and Subrata Roy, Chairman of the Sahara Group have offered to pay the club’s debt amounting to nearly £237 million in return for a 51 percent stake at Liverpool after it was put off for sale in April. Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr. put the 18-time English champions up for sale amid pressure from banks over the club's $374 million debt resulting from their 2007 leveraged takeover.

Mr Huang, the chairman of Hong Kong-based investment company QSL Sports also showed interest to take over the club while Syrian-born Yahya Kirdi, announce that his group is now in ''advanced negotiations'' after details of the rival Chinese bid emerged.

Meanwhile The EPL Club Blackburn Rovers, with a debt of around 20 million pounds (32 million US dollars) saw another Indian interested in its takeover after Saurin Shah. According to reports, Ahasan Ali Sayed made a formal approach to the clubs advisors and is set to launch a 300 million pounds takeover bid that would lift the club back towards their title-winning status of 1995.

According to reports, Blackburn declined to comment on any potential takeover but was interested in Sayed’s offer. There have been a number of interested parties for some time and discussions are ongoing," said chairman John Williams.

With Indian’s often interested in bidding for the takeover but none actually successful, there is doubt whether this link-up will ever see the light. Moreover does it make sense to invest so much in a foreign club? Investing even half the amount in Indian football will do wonders. LIVERPOOL MAY NOT NEED YOU BUT OUR COUNTRY CERTAINLY DOES. Is anybody listening?
