Bob Houghton Is an Institution by Himself, says Gouramangi Singh

Moirangthem Gouramangi Singh has lots to smile in recent years. Adjudge the ‘AIFF Best Player of the Year 2010’ this lanky defender from Manipur has been a key component of the Indian Football Team, who won the Nehru Cup in 2007 and 2009 and also the AFC Challenge Cup, which booked them their ticket to the just concluded Asian Cup in Doha. With his cool and composed defending, he has performed consistently during the years and is an important composition in Coach Bob Houghton’s scheme of things.

With a mission to provide a platform to talented young footballer back home in his strife-torn state of Manipur, the 25 year old is leaving no stone un-turn to make his dream come true. Playing hard to win the I-League for his club “Churchill Brothers”, he spoke at length to Babua Biswas, where he tackled questions at ease just the way he does it on the field.
