In the final round clash of Group A, I-League Division -2 matches today in Guwahati, Bhaichung Bhutia’s newly formed club United Sikkim and Kolkata’s Southern Samity booked a place for the final round to be played out in Shillong later.
Riding on a fantastic hat-trick of Bhudiram Tudu, Bhutia,s team notch a convincing 4-1 win over Kerela outfit, Golden Threads FC. Winning this match moves them at the top of the group ahead of much fancied Southern Samity on a better goal difference. In six outings, the Snow Lions manage 13 points with 4 wins and a draw, scoring 15 goals against 6 conceded.
In a decisive match as to who will be the second team from the group to qualify for the final round, NISA and Southern Samity fought out a tough battle, with the later emerging triumph. A brace from Rajid Ahmed sealed the fate of the club from Manipur, ensuring the absence of a team from Manipur in the I-League.
