In a meeting held in the AIFF Head Quarter ‘Football House’ in Dwarka on Wednesday, The AFC Ad-hoc Committee for Indian Professional Football decided to give a waiver to the three PSU owned clubs (HAL. Air India and ONGC) and Indian Arrows which have failed to meet the AFC club licensing criteria unlike as it was reported in the Media earlier.
However, the opportunity came at a cost to the clubs as they will not be allowed to participate in the AFC Champions League even if they manage to finish top three in the I-League 2011-12 season.
The meeting chaired by AFC President Mohammad Bin Hammam, in the presence of AIFF President Praful Patel, FIFA Executive Committee Member Manilal Fernando, prominent Indian club owners and officials discuss host of issues and made several proposals to further the professionalization of the game.
